ECOLOGICAL
BUILDING
Ecological buildings use a variety
of different technologies and building materials to
create eco-friendly housing and other
structures.
Some of these technologies include the
use of solar power through solar panels and other
devices, wind power through windmills, very advanced
water conservation and renewal systems, sewage treatment
systems, and eco-friendly building materials such as
bamboo, earth, straw, stone, and other local materials.
Even unique re-used materials such as a house built out
of reused whiskey barrels!
Ecological construction is way of
building that hopes to reduce resource consumption and
the impact on ecological systems by us humans, and to
create products and environments that are actually to the
benefit of our human health and longevity.
Ecological construction of buildings
uses less materials, energy and water for construction
and operation. Products that are ecologically constructed
are easy to assemble, maintain and most importantly
recycle.
There are environmentally friendly
products available for every part of your
home, from floor to ceiling and everything in
between. These range from toilets to skylights,
natural flooring, hemp insulation for walls, alternative
refrigerators, and anything else you can imagine. If you
are building a new house and want to build it ‘green’
there are also different types of
‘green’ lumber like Forest Stewardship Council
certified wood, and pressure-treated wood. This in
combination with advanced framing (also called optimal
value engineering) reduces the amount of lumber
used. These and many other new technologies are becoming
ever more interconnected to weave your home into an
environmentally-friendly addition to the
landscape.
